Life.....

Our life has been crazy busy but is starting to slow down. We have gone many places and hung out with some great friends. I even took a nice little trip to Atlanta for work and next trip is Denver on the 24th of October!

Now that I have passed my exam, I will have more time for a blog. It has been neglected over the last several months. More posts and pictures will be posted soon!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! So all you ladies make sure you do self exams for early detections of cancer. We have to be aware and keep those Ta-tas free of cancer.

One Busy life but Its a Great Life..

We spend the past weekend with some great friends. Friday night my best friend picked me up from my parent’s house for our slumber party! We had a lovely diner and then hung out at her wonderful house. Bright and early Saturday we head to Starbucks for some black tea and then we were off to get our pedicure.. Amazing is all I can say about the pedicure.. After that it was time for some fast and crazy shopping and then we headed to meet our friends and the off to the Royals game!  Jared spent his Friday and Saturday golfing and shooting sporting clays with some friends. What can I say, my husband loves to golf! Royal’s game was great fun like always! We are blessed to have much a fun group of friends..

So much going on.. Little time to Blog..

Blogging has not been at the top of our list the last few weeks. I have been studying for my exam and also started a new part time job at the Wamego Country Club. I will just be working a few days each week but that is okay. Jared had been busy getting ready for the big golf tourney at the golf course as well. In our free time which is not often we get in some golf.

Sunday after we got off work we headed back to Troy to see our families. It was a quick trip but we love getting to spend time with them even if its just for one day.  As we finished packing and were about to leave Barkley was worried he was going to be left behind. So, he made sure that he was going to catch a ride with us!  Such a silly dog!

This weekend we will be heading to Perry for some boating with my parents! Haven't been all year so it should be a grand time! Other then that I will continue to job search and study for my exam!

 

Golf Tourney and Good Friends...

We started our weekend off on Thursday with Colin and Bekah coming to visit. Bekah and I spend the day in St. Marys with lunch at Emerald Diner, coffee at MJ's and just chatting at the apartment. It was so good to get caught up on each others lives. Its hard to find great friends but I have been truly blessed to find great friends at KSU.

Saturday we spend the day on the golf course and it was amazing. My team got first in our flight and we won $25.00!! :) For some odd reason I did not take many pictures.. Oh well!

Sunday Reid, Jared and I headed to  my parents swimming pool. It was not to hot out but the water felt nice. Barkley even took a swim and he hated it as usually. We headed home that evening because Jared had to work yesterday. Overall it was a great weekend..

The Pepperoni Roll Challenge.....

I am sure that many of you are unaware that Jared and I have a cousin named Colin that is in love with Gumby's Pepperoni Rolls. Every time he would visit us in Manhattan he would get 20 or so just to have some to take home. Well, he came to visit yesterday and my challenge was to try and make some just like Gumby's.. Well, I found a recipe online and made some small changes, they were good just not Gumby's good! Next time I am going to make my own pizza crust and hope they turn out better!!

Jared and I are so excited to be playing in a Golf Tourney on Saturday! Hope the weather continues to be beautiful!

One part of the RD exam has be reviewing Science of food, what nutrients are in what foods and so on. Well, since I have been so board I have set a goal that once or twice a week I make a new recipe! I can't help but think of the material I have been reviewing while I am cooking and what nutrients the items contain.

Tuesday night I prepared and Taco ring from the Papered Chef cookbook that my mother gave me for Christmas..

Today, I prepared peanut butter cookies and Chocolate cookies that are Caramel filled. I have always wanted to make the chocolate cookies ever since Carol Johnson made them for me on my Birthday when I was in high school. So, I gave them a try today and they turned out great! Jared will be taking these cookies to the golf course tomorrow.. They do not need to hang around our house..

For dinner tonight I prepared a breakfast sausage casserole from allrecipies.com.. Fingers crossed that it turns out!

A dear friend Bekah,  that I met my first day at KSU in Chemistry 1 is coming down to got out for lunch tomorrow. I could not be more excited! I have not seen her since the Pediatric Forum at Children's Mercy and they were not worried about us getting caught up on each others lives so that is what tomorrow is for! We are also going to have a guest, Colin! We love when he comes to visit us!

Life slowed down, Now more time for blogging.!.!

Last week was our first week without school and VA internship. I have to admit I was bored out of my mind. Crazy I know but I love the trill of deadlines, seeing patients, charting and all the stress that comes along with it. But I have one small item that I need to be studying for but I can only take an hour of that or so each day...In order to get myself to study I stroll down to  MJ's Coffee shop. Which is my new place to study and I have to say it again I love that place!

With all of the rain Jared has not had to work as long of hours as he did last week which it is nice to have him home fairly early in the evenings. So, Friday night we headed down the street to try out Emerald's diner and it was amazing. The owners are the nicest people and the food was out of this world.. We both agreed that we will be visiting them again soon!

One of the perks of him working at the Country club is free golf for him and his wife.. So on Saturday afternoon Jared and I headed to the golf course. I have never played 18 hours and with a golf tourney coming up I figured I better give it a go.. It was a success and we both had a wonderful time. New Town.. New favorites

Since we moved to Saint Mary's in December and it was a very cold winter, I never really had time to explore what all the small town has to offer. Now that things have slowed way down for me but not so much for Jared, I have a ton of free time.  Yesterday I tried to study at home and was not very successful, after talking with my dear friend Bekah she said she was heading to the coffee shop to work on somethings. Light bulb moment, we have a coffee shop so I thought I would venture down the street to give it a whirl!  Well, it was a success because they have Amazing flavored tea and the barista was a delight. I feel like I am stating to meet some people in this new place. I will be visiting the coffee shop for my daily study session!

Next up on my To Do list for Saint Marys is to try Emerald Diner which is owned and operated by some fellow HMD students! http://www.emeralddiner.com/

Human Ecology Graduation...

I did it! I am officially a alum from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics  and a Secondary Major in Gerontology, next step to to set for my boards and become and RD, LD... So exciting!

After graduation everyone who attended went to our house for some sandwiches and dessert. It was so amazing to see all the people who have helped me through all the schooling and to see how proud they were of me. I have an amazing family! I opened cards and presents which was so much fun. Even people who could not attend sent cards to congratulate me which was really kind of them!

Next step in my life... I am currently job searching and searching.. I have faith in God that he will bring the right job to me when the time is right. Until then I will be studying for the RD Exam which I be able to take sometime this summer.. Not a chance that I am going to tell anyone what day it will be on...Well, Jared will have to know so that he can keep me calm! :) Then in a few years after Jared has a job and we are settled into a house I will go back and get my Masters.

I am at a very exciting time in my life and I am truly blessed to have the most amazing family and friends.

Happy Birthday Barkley B.

May 7th our Barkley turned 3 years old in Human years! He is such a great dog and we can't imagine life without him! Happy Birthday Barkley!!

Life... A Busy one but Its Amazing!

A ton has been gong on in our lives... So much that we have not blogged since the Royals game! Since then we have spent our Friday nights when in St. Marys with the DeWitt Family! Friday nights in our night to get together for food and laughter! Last weekend we hosted them and it was a success expect Sara and I were not found of the wine selection.. Oh well life goes on!

Saturday since the house was clean and Jared was at the golf course working, which he loves that place. I started to study for the RD Exam, I have purchased an online study tool and have flash cards~ several hundred of them! Studying for this exam is going to be stressful but well worth it in end! Not much happened the rest of the weekend but quitly husband and wife time plus Barkley B who finally got his hair cut and he looks so handsome!

Take Me Out to the Ballgame..

Friday night we headed home to drop off Barkley B and spend sometime with our families. Jared decided that he needed to hit the driving range with Colin and Ross. After that we enjoyed dinner at the Greaser's and then headed out to the Marriott's. It was a great evening just chatting with our parents and family.

Saturday we headed to KC to watch the Royals play the Boston Red Socks.. Going to the ball park would not be complete without some new Royals shirts and some wonderful tailgating food! We decided that it would be best for us to just spend the night and the hotel was within walking distance of the stadium.. We meet up with some friends and enjoyed an afternoon full great food and were so excited to head into the stadium.  The Royals did not win but it was a great time and we can not wait to head back to the ball park for another game.. Sunday we decided to do some shopping and then head home to our Barkley...We sure did miss that little fur ball!

Our week is off to a great start and Jared's last day  at Kmart is Friday!! WooHooo.. Now the pressure is on me to find a job.. :)

Two Great Weekends in a Row...

On March 26th we had our friend Catherine over for dinner! Since it was Friday I made Alfredo, Fresh Garden Salad and Strawberry shortcake. We received so many great wedding gifts for entertaining so whenever we have guests I find a way to use all of them! Here is a picture of the salad and strawberries..Catherine it was great to see you and Congrats on the Internship!!

 On Saturday we ventured out to Aggieville to cheer on the cats with Jessica and Neil. It was a great game but the Cats just couldn't pull it off! Still Very Proud of them! EMAW!!

Then Sunday we headed to Topeka to do some shopping and watch Sydnie's volleyball team play. They did great and I was amazed by how good they are since they are still young! Way to Go Sydnie!! After watching volleyball we hit the mall and Wal Mart.. Shopping would not be complete without getting Barkley B a gift. He got a new toy that makes so much noise that it had to be left at the grandparents  and he got a summer outift! Please excuse his long hair but the groomer has been crazy busy and so have we!

On Friday, April 2nd we head back to Troy for some family time! We were able to watch Colin play baseball on Saturday at Highland Community College! We are so proud of him! Then Sunday we Easter and we had the chance to see all of your family and it was wonderful! Here is a picture of all the candy we came home with.. Its crazy how candy we have in this house now! I Made it 40 days without chocolate and Jared made it about 25 without soda.. At least he tried..:)

Saturday we are heading to Kansas City to cheer on the Royals! We got a hotel room within walking distance and we are so excited for our weekend get a way! Go Royals!

Fantastic Friday and a Relaxing Weekend

As most of you know Friday until Easter we can not eat meat. Sometimes that makes getting together with friends hard especially when the weather has been wonderful and we are all dying to grill out.  The Dewitt's invited us over for dinner last night and Dustin showed us his cooking skills by making his own version of Jalapeno poppers and grilled shrimp. We had a great meal and wonderful talk about movies we have all cried over. How funny! We got to play with Carly and that always make us smile. Such a cute little muffin!

Other activities happening in our lives are school and internship. Jared is really getting into so fun classes and toured Colbert Hill's Golf courses new clubhouse. Which he was amazed, its much larger then the old one.  His days are filled with grass and other interesting things that I have no clue how to describe. I spend my days counseling patients with different nutritional needs and I love it! I never thought that I could work 40 hours a week for free and not hate getting up every morning. Guess I really did find my calling! May 15th I will be a graduate from KSU!!

Barkley B. is doing great and loves the warm weather.. He is currently crying for me to play with him! Here are some pictures of him digging for a toy and one watching TV.. Such a spoiled dog

A Great Weekend with Old Friends and Family

Well last weekend we headed back to Troy for a weekend full of seeing old friends and celebrating Jared's Birthday. His Birthday is not until Monday but in the Marriott Family we celebrate Birthdays for about a Month. So, Jared needed to kick his off right. 

Friday night we picked up a car full of people in Troy and headed over to The Tap Room in Saint Joseph. We were lucky to find a table that would fit all of use and Jeff joined us later with some cards for drinking games!  It was a great chance for Jared to talk with his friends and I got to chat with my Ladies. We are blessed to have great friends that no matter how long it has been since our last chat or visit we easily pick back up where we left off. That is a sign of True Friendship! After an interesting Evening we parted ways with Lisa and headed home. The men thought they need Taco Bell and fifteen 5 layer burritos were ordered. It was funny to hear the drive through guy read back the order but the guys eyes were bigger then their tummies!   It was a wonderful evening and here are some of the pictures! 

Saturday and Sunday we spent our time with family and it was wonderful. After a long weekend and fun night out with friends on Friday. We got up for Reid's basketball game at 8:00 am on Saturday, it was early but so much fun and we finally got to see him play. Reid's team didn't win but he did an great job! Way to Go Reid! Saturday night we went out to dinner with some family and tried out luck at the Casino. Before that Jared had to open some of his Birthday gifts! Sunday we enjoyed lunch with the Sutherland's and Neil! The weekend went way to fast and before we knew it we were back in Saint Mary's Preparing for the Week!
